SAPCONET donates two bicycles to Kekana Gardens community members

Thanks to Meryke Mare and her team at SAPCONET, two community members from Kekana Gardens are now beneficiaries of brand new bicycles to assist them get by daily. The two both have a condition called club foot, which affects the way they walk. Aaron works at the Pfaranani Skills Training Centre as a caretaker,  whilst the young girl is 10 years old currently doing Grade 5 at a local primary school in Kekana Gardens. We applaud the SAPCONET team, as ERP Ambassadors, for committing to assist these two through their in-house fundraising activity. The smiles on both beneficiaries’ faces truly tell a story.

Through their Enterprise Development spend, iLAB, a member of Groupelephant.com,  funded a portion of the development of the IT Centre in Vaalwater. This funding support, given to a youthful George Boya of Reshma Business Development has resulted in the establishment of TWO accredited IT enterprises. Having started at  the Vaalwater centre, George moved out to Bakenberg which is home to 48 villages due to the need for IT Training in the area as well. To date, these IT enterprises have created 2 permanent jobs, whilst 13 local students have secured employment opportunities in various institutions after completing the computer training course. Additionally, the Vaalwater centre conducts training for residents in town, learners and educators and many employees who work on game farms.

With the recent deployment of 100 bicycles, #Bikes4ERP has directly benefited 186 students in Madikwe and Blouberg, with an additional over 200 students benefiting from reallocation of bicycles over the past 3 years. This means that we have been able to get students to travel faster to and from school, whilst reducing their rates of absenteeism in class. On the other hand, we have created social enterprise opportunities for 2 bike mechanics who constantly assist assist the students with any repair work to the bicycles.
